May 1st is one of my favorite days of the year! Turning the calendar and seeing "May" reminds me that summer is right around the corner. But for our college-bound Seniors, May 1st is one of the most important days of the year. May 1st is known as "National College Decision Day" in the United States. It is the deadline for high school seniors to make their final decision and submit an enrollment deposit to the college or university they plan to attend in the fall.
The May 1st deadline was established by the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) to give students a reasonable amount of time to carefully consider their college options and make an informed decision that was best for them. Many students have already accepted admittance by the May 1st deadline, but for some, this deadline comes after a stressful and confusing few months to make their final decision.
While some colleges and universities may have different decision deadlines, May 1st is considered the most common deadline and is widely recognized as the deadline for students to make their final college decision. We hope that whatever school you have you decided to attend, you feel excited about your decision! College is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make new friends. It's a chance to explore new ideas and experiences, and to discover your passions and strengths. While it's natural to feel nervous or uncertain about this new chapter in your life, we hope you embrace the excitement and possibilities that lie ahead.
